Glaisdale Parish Council
Welcome to Glaisdale
Glaisdale Parish sits within the North York Moors National Park and serves four separate farming communities – Glaisdale, Lealholm, Houlsyke and Fryup.
Each community has its own distinct character and yet all come together to support each other and the parish as a whole. A wonderful place in which to live and work.
CURRENT ISSUES
Tragic incident at Rake Lane ford, Glaisdale on 28th December 2023
Glaisdale Parish Councillors wish to express their condolences to the families and friends of those men who lost their lives in this incident. We also express our thanks to the emergency services and to members of the local community who attended the scene giving valued assistance where possible.
The January meeting of the parish council will include an item which will allow limited discussion of this tragic event which has cost the lives of three people.
At this point in time the various investigations ongoing by NY Police and other agencies involved in the rescue/recovery attempts have not concluded and so there will not be any definitive actions proposed or carried forward as a result of these discussions.
When the result of the investigations are known and the Coroner has issued a verdict on the deaths, Glaisdale Parish Council may revisit this matter and consider what further actions can be taken.
